This AV8S is history in Europe. Escadrilla 8 was disbanded in August 1996. The Matadors were sold to the Thai Navy but stayed on Rota for about a year. During this period the Thai personnel were trained by the Spanish Navy people about operating the Matadors. After this the Matadors left to Thailand.
 
 
 

 
 
 
 
 

The AV8B replaced the AV8S and the first from a badge of 12 was delivered in 1987. Since then 3 AV8B's were lost by accidents. This 01-907 was participating an exercise on Zaragoza in 1995 and is equipped with a camo gun pot and  small training bombs.

The Spanish Navy uses two versions of the SH-3 Sea King. The normal SH3H and this versions for AEW operations and easily recognizable. This SH3 AEW is preparing the take off from Rota.

In the eighties two Piper PA-24 Comanche's were used for liaison tasks. In December 1988 they were put out of service and were standing wfu on Rota for years. The 401 is here seen ops on the platform of Rota.
